Radical Announce Clubmans Cup
A new Radical race series for all bike-powered Radicals will run in 2008.  To be known as the Radical Clubmans Cup, the new championship is aimed squarely at the Radical drivers who want a low-cost, double-header race series for non-professional drivers, which rewards good driving standards and encourages novice drivers to join the series.

Full technical support will be available from both Radical and Powertec Engineering, and the Radical Clubmans Cup will be an MSA-sanctioned championship which will comprise six events at top UK circuits running at the Dunlop “Great & British” Festivals package UK events.  The events will comprise a 20 minute practice session and two 40 km (20 minute) races.  At some events all racing / qualifying will be on the Saturday and at others the qualifying and racing will take place over the two days.

There will be an opportunity to test, if required, on the Friday prior to each “Great & British” weekend, on the official test day.

The class structure will comprise:
  1. Supersport class -----------   SR3 1500
  2. Biduro class -------------------   SR4 1300 (restricted) / SR4 1200
  3. Prosport class ----------------   PR6 1300 / Prosport 1300 / SR3 1300
  4. Clubsport class --------------   Clubsport 1100
  5. Invitation class ---------------   Any of the above with a non-standard Powertec engine
The registration fee for the Radical Clubmans Cup championship will be £200 +VAT. The Radical Clubmans Cup will replace both the Radical Biduro championship and the Powertec Radical Challenge.

Radical co-founder, Mick Hyde elaborates, “A combination of factors have come together to spawn this new championship.  I see it appealing to a whole raft of existing and potential Radical owners.
  1. Many SR3 owners want a sprint series
  2. A healthy contingent of SR4 racers are guaranteed in the Biduro class
  3. Our new PR6 will be a popular car in the Cup
  4. Low entry fees and only two sets of tyres will reduce costs and help ensure new drivers join the Cup
  5. Well turned-out Clubsport and Prosport cars are welcomed to join in the class racing
  6. The racing is guaranteed to be close, with only a couple of seconds separating the lap times of most cars.
  7. Radicals that have been tuned by Powertec are welcome in the Invitation class.
The Radical Clubmans Cup looks set for full grids, watch this space for dates and costs!”
