SR1 Cup

The Radical SR1 Cup is the UK’s fastest and most exciting novice racing championship, and enters its fifth season in 2017 off the back of four fantastic years of racing. Drivers of all backgrounds have taken advantage of the detailed on-track tuition and support offered by Radical Sportscars throughout the last two seasons. Such has been the rapid growth of this first rung on the Radical racing ladder, places are already filling fast on the 2017 grid.

The very cost-effective package includes Radical’s thrilling and entry-level sportscar, the SR1. Fully built and ready to go, the SR1 is substantially revised for 2017 with dramatic new styling, improved aerodynamics and updated electronics. The package also includes a Radical race suit, and the most comprehensive training and race programme in the business. This begins with the race licence procedure (for those who need it), followed by two instructor-assisted trackdays. It all culminates with eight races at some of the best circuits in the UK – and all for the incredible price of just £42,950+VAT. You can’t go faster or have more fun for less!

The championship begins with an ARDS test at any MotorSport Vision circuit, including a medical (for those already holding a race licence the cost of the 2016 renewal will be covered), before drivers take their cars to the first of two exclusive Radical trackdays – both at circuits that these novice racers will compete at later in the season. There will be instructors on hand to guide the drivers, timing will be possible and there will even be the opportunity for them to try practice starts with the full countdown procedure and start lights.

Experienced Radical staff and technicians are on-hand to explain everything that happens during a race weekend, from signing-on to taking the chequered flag, along with circuit driving theory, circuit driving techniques and how to prepare yourself for what lies ahead.

Radical also details everything you need to know about preparing the car. The SR1 has been designed to be both easy and inexpensive to maintain and Radical’s works team engineers will explain just how to do it.

With these trackdays under their belts and the adrenaline rush from driving these thrilling race cars still fresh, it will be time for the drivers to take part in their first competitive event. All events take place on standalone SR1 racedays, ensuring that there will be unrivalled support, expert advice and a spares truck at each event, and the qualifying session and two races will take place on the same day to keep travel expenses to a minimum. Final dates are TBC but will follow the same great format as 2016, when the races were held at Brands Hatch Indy, Oulton Park, Cadwell Park and Snetterton, some of the finest circuits in the country.
