The Dunlop Radical Enduro Championship

Radical SR8 at Autosport 2005Either one or two driver teams are eligible for the 100km double header races which will run in the inaugural ‘Great & British’ Dunlop Motorsport Festivals package in 2006.

Two classes for SR3 and SR8 cars will run over 9 events at all the top UK circuits plus Spa Francorchamps in Belgium. Testing and Qualifying will be run on the Saturday with a 100km race in the morning and afternoon of the Sunday. The full might of Dunlop’s marketing department will be behind the package and a minimum of twelve races will be covered on both Sky Sports and Motors TV.

The format of the racing is being spiced up to give added interest for both competitors and spectators. A window of just three laps in the middle of the race will be allowed for the driver changes and single driver stops.

SR3 cars will be available with front diffusers and high downforce side pods to bring the downforce levels of the SR3 in line with those of the SR8. This reduces the SR3’s lap times and improves the high speed stability of the car. The SR8 remains largely unchanged for 2006. A new Quaife RQ2 gearbox is being tested as an option to the perennial Hewland. The engines for both the SR3 and SR8 will be available with a new ECU which will enable Powertec to offer a full engine warranty.
