Rising endurance racing hotshot Morten Dons is the latest driver announcement to the Radical European Masters, one week before the 2018 season kicks off at Estoril in Portugal.
The 29-year-old Dane will partner European Masters stalwart John Harrison in a Radical Works Team-run SR8, and the pair are sure to be one of the most competitive Pro-Am duos on the grid.
Morten’s racing experience stretches back over a decade, from beginnings in Danish karting. In 2011 he switched to the Danish Formula Ford Championship, finishing third in the standings in 2012. 2013 saw Dons switch to closed cockpit racing for the first time, scooping the Ginetta GT5 Challenge Sweden with 6 wins and 11 podiums and drawing the attention of Century Motorsport’s GT4 campaign in British GT for 2014.
In 2015 Dons took his first steps into sport-prototype racing, with the RLR/University of Bolton squad scoring a win in the first season of LMP3. Subsequent seasons of European Le Mans Series competition have been dovetailed with outings in the Danish Thundersport Championship, Creventic 24H Series and Masters Endurance Legends behind the wheel of the Ferrari 575 GT1 race car.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Radical Sportscars as a works driver for the European Masters this season,” said Morten. “The SR8 is an impressive piece of kit that matches the 2018 circuits perfectly. Racing with Radical's Works Team is a unique opportunity for me, and I am sure we have a great season ahead of us, starting this weekend at Estoril."
The 2018 Radical European Masters sees a stronger SR8 grid than many recent seasons, with drivers switching to the latest-generation SR8, debuted in mid-2017. Dons & Harrison will battle against former European Masters race winners including Mike Cantillon, Jamie Constable/Jonathan Kennard and Andrew/Jeremy Ferguson.
