Jerôme de Sadeleer will return for a full Radical Challenge campaign with the 360 Racing team this year, with his eyes firmly set on fighting for outright championship honours.
After claiming the 2017 SR1 Cup Championship title in only his first season of racing, de Sadeleer – elder brother to United Autosports LMP2 driver Hugo – stepped up to the 226bhp SR3 last season to impressive effect.
Outright victory in the Donington Park season opener outlined his potential from the off. Despite the steep learning curve, de Sadeleer pushed on to take a further two wins at Rockingham and threatened to impact on the title fight between eventual champion Dominik Jackson and former multiple champ, Steve Burgess.
Ranking an outstanding third with a healthy tally of nine podiums earned throughout his maiden SR3 season, the Swiss racer is confident he can pick up where he left off.
“I’m excited to be back in Radical Challenge this year. The new format change and increase in track time was a no-brainer for me,” said de Sadeleer. “I had a fantastic first season in the series, qualifying third for my first race weekend at Donington Park and taking my first outright victory. I had the speed, but some of my decisions didn’t always work out and I had to develop my racecraft. I was much stronger and more consistent in the second half of the season and I’m confident I can build on that momentum.
“This year I’ve put in a lot of work to my physical routine. I’ve lost around 20lbs and put in some good testing miles. Consistency pays dividends in this championship and with so many points on offer each race you can’t afford not to score.
“It’s great to back with 360 Racing. They are a seriously professional outfit and it’s fantastic to be a part of their growth and to see more talent coming into the team. Together I hope we’ll be a pretty strong package, but we won’t know who we’re up against until the first round. That’s the great thing about Radical Challenge, I could be racing against a Silver grade driver keeping sharp, an experienced sportscar or a top amateur driver. Either way I’ll be amongst some fierce competition.”
The first round of the 2019 Radical Challenge takes place at Donington Park, 6-7 April.
